Why Butterfly Valves Can Be Used As Fluid Flow Control Valves

One of the reason why butterfly valves are well suited as fluid flow control valves is that they are smaller and lighter than their substitutes. If their size is correct, butterfly valves can provide a wider control range than similar valves, e.g. globe valves or ball valves, and take up less space.

In addition to the size and weight advantages, butterfly valves also have a higher capacity and lower flow restriction. For economical reasons, they are also the valve of choice because of the lower installation cost. This is because butterfly valves are of pipe size and do not require pipework reducers.

There is a wide range of applications for when butterfly valves can be used as a fluid flow control valve. They can be used for capacity lines on shops and perform well in slurry and water applications with high volume.
